Choose Granola when you need a meeting record
Suppose you finish a customer call and need to reconstruct the discussion, share notes with a colleague or revisit a decision next month. Granola's notes and transcript-based workflow address that need. Its chat, folders, templates and integrations let you use meeting information after the call.
One Better Question does not produce that record. It keeps conversation text in memory during the active session and clears it when the session ends. If your reason for searching “Granola alternative” is better note-taking, team sharing or searchable history, this is a different kind of tool.
Choose One Better Question when you need an opening

How conversation data is handled
Granola's documentation describes cloud storage of notes and transcripts, with local caching of notes. It says audio recordings are not retained after transcription, and offers transcript-deletion controls. Read its security and data FAQs and transcript retention guidance for the settings that apply to your account.
One Better Question transcribes audio on your Mac in both modes. In Private, conversation content stays on the Mac. In Hosted, text goes through the app's service to Anthropic only when you ask: recent context on an ordinary press, or the conversation so far when you choose a breadth. Long requests may use the newest portion that fits, with a notice. Audio is never sent.
The app does not save audio, transcripts, questions or conversation history to disk. That promise does not mean a Hosted provider has no operational retention. Read the full privacy disclosure, and get the permission of the people involved before using conversation tools.
Could you use both?
